Delete your account

The short version

You can delete your Hitter account yourself, from inside the app, in under a minute. It is permanent and it happens right away.

In the app

  1. Open Hitter and tap your avatar in the top left to open the menu.
  2. Tap Edit profile, then scroll to the very bottom of the form.
  3. Tap the Delete account link, read what will be removed, then tap Delete my account.
  4. Confirm. Your account and data are deleted straight away and you are signed out.

If you signed in with Apple or Google, Hitter also asks them to revoke the connection, so it drops out of the list of apps linked to that account.

By email

Already uninstalled the app, or would rather we did it? Email daniel@hitter.nz from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my Hitter account”. We will confirm it is done by reply, usually within a few days and always within 20 working days. We only act on requests from the account’s own email address, so nobody else can delete your account for you.

What is deleted

  • Your account, email address and sign-in details
  • Your profile: name, date of birth, avatar, skill level, play style, city and home court
  • Your availability, friends, friend requests and hit requests
  • Every hit you played and every chat message you sent
  • Your achievements, goals, court ratings, favourites and history
  • Your push notification tokens and notification history

Hits you played with other people disappear from their history too, and where a record belongs to someone else, for example a hit they cancelled that named you, your name is removed from it.

What is kept, and for how long

Nothing about you stays in the Hitter database. Two things can outlive the account for a short time:

  • Server request logs and crash reports held by our hosting and monitoring providers, which expire on their own within 90 days and are never used to rebuild an account.
  • Database backups, which roll over within 30 days. A deleted account is not restored from a backup.

Emails you have exchanged with us stay in our support inbox in case you get in touch again. Ask and we will delete those too.

Taking a break instead?

Deleting is for good. If you only want to disappear for a while, sign out of the app and your profile stays exactly where you left it, and you can pick up again whenever you like.
